HERITAGE

Heritage

The SPNC feels that the people of NC and the South should honor their rich heritage... a heritage which includes many of those who fought in the American Revolution, formed the US Constitution, provided many of the firstPresidents, and fought to preserve the US Constitution as originally intended but in a losing cause.NC and the South have provided a disproportionate number of sons and daughters to fight in the wars to preserve freedom in America.A heritage where God is the center of many North Carolinians lives and why the term "Bible Belt" is often used unfortunately in derision. A heritage of honor, decency and hospitality. Yes, that heritage also includes sad and tragic times such as slavery and the Jim Crow Law periods.

We believe that the playing of the song "Dixie" and the showing of the Confederate flags, including the Battle Flag, is Not a sign of racism but of a proud heritage. We honor all those who fought and died for Southern Independence, including most blacks who, although in bondage, remained loyal to the South by tending and protecting farms, building fortifications, and serving in both support and fighting roles in the army and navy of the Confederacy. Also, many Native Americans who fought along side the Confederacy recognizing greater hope for them by doing so.
